Everything Dies.... And Nothing Ever Changes...

In March of this year 2007, the author of this blog will conmemorate the 10th. anniversary, since the day he left his beatiful hometown, Barcelona, to move to foreign land.
He thought, for such a special occasion he would spend his holidays back in Barcelona, to analyze the changes and Improvements during this time. Always looking Forward to a future comeback to his Motherland.
Starting in politics, he found the two ruling parties, goverment and opposition in an ugly fight about terrorism and the way of dealing or treating such acts of violence, something you would not see in the early years, for the huge respect they would have for the victims.
That same respect that now they have lost, in the fight for a couple of undecided voters.
We found a completly divided society, in different groups and forums, and the discussion about the Headline for a demostration (Wich purpose was, to show Unity), would take days.
Placing this country in a level of any third world African country fighting for Religion, Diamonds or Land...

In economy, people have get used to spend "fast & easy", their 20, 50 and 100 €uro notes, like they used to do with their 2000, 5000, 10.000 pesetas, but in this case the value of the €urolie is higher than the former currency, and when years ago, holding a 10.000 pesetas note you would feel "king of the world", you´ll find yourself shaking legs with a 100 €urolie note in your hands, wondering how long it´ll last.
Prices have raised and salarys kept at the same level for the last 8 years. In any modern society, " The people" would be able to demostrate on the streets and pressure the goverment for such an outrage... but that´s why... Football was brought to this country, and if that wasn´t enough, the daily 3 hours long programs dedicated to the yellow press, Fame and Famous, in all different 15 new national channels (..and nothing on...) Keeps the monkeys stuck in their sofas without further complaint.
The Rich keep Richer and the Poor keep swimming in the dirt.

Racism has grown in amazing levels in the last years. The €urolie has brought huge increase of East- Europeans, using their right of moving and working in this European lands, a part of the thousands of South-Americans ( Peruvians, argentinians, Colombians...) Searching for a brand new start within the modern and advanced Catalan society. Unfortunately, the Catalan Society has showed not being modern, neither advanced, in their ways upon this new citizens.
They try constantly to ignore a Reality, a Reality they are not ready to live in or share.
Won´t be a surprise to find far-right political parties and fascism on top of the polls in the next future with a speech of " Tradition, Nationaslism and protection of the values", like we ´ve seen in the last days in our neighboor country, France.
Ignorance prevails.

It´s late at night when i think about the possibilities of a future comeback home.
Are the times that we´re living in the real ones or just a memory of the good old times from the past?
Is that the reason why Family keeps together? For the " Memories of the Good Old times". The memory of your little sisters and their funny comments, the memory of the brothers playing together in summer time, the memory of seeing your parents Happy.
Time waits for nobody and people change. Like an old friend from childhood you haven´t seen in years. You see the same face, the same movements and ways, but inside is somebody you don´t know anymore. A completly different person. And It´s gone...

Well, if The boss said something right was..."Everything dies, Baby that´s a Fact... And maybe everything that dies, someday comes back..."

I Think way too optimist ending for such a tragic and pesimistic song.
